Binx, re: "Does 1MB of storage match to 1 minute of playback?" Pretty close. A 650MB Audio CD holds 74 minutes of music, which translates to 8.8MB per minute. MP3 compresses sound by almost 10-to-1. So, in round numbers, it takes 1MB to store 1 minute of music.

One of these days, the world will get wise to the fact that a $1.00 CD can hold 10+ hours of MP3 music. As more manufacturers add CD-RW drives to their PCs (its an $80 option at Dell), Sony might well introduce an MP3 playback feature in its Walkman line. If that happens, the market for MP3-only players will thud.
