Wintec Signs Partnership Agreement With Rambus Inc.

FREMONT, Calif., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Wintec, a leading memory module
manufacturer and computer products distributor, announced today that it has
signed a partnership agreement with Rambus Inc. (Nasdaq: RMBS). Under the
terms of the partnership agreement, Wintec will be an approved manufacturer
and distributor of Rambus(R) memory modules, or RIMM(TM) modules, for use in
mainstream desktop PCs, workstations and servers.
"Wintec's expertise in manufacturing and distributing memory modules and
components will greatly support the supply of RIMM modules required by VARs
and system integrators," said Subodh Toprani, vice president and general
manager of the Logic Products Division at Rambus Inc. "Wintec has the
distribution reach that will help us meet the increasing demand for RIMM
modules as more products reach the market requiring our high-speed memory
solution."
"We have a ten-year history of supplying the market with the most advanced
memory technology available," said Simon Chen, vice-president of engineering
and manufacturing at Wintec. "Our partnership with Rambus will help us
continue our trend of delivering the cutting edge products the market
requires."

Rambus memory modules provide three times the performance improvement over
100 MHz SDRAM and have been adopted by Intel to be the memory technology to
support systems with the Intel 820 and 840 chipsets. The high-speed,
high-capacity memory, Rambus technology is designed for high volume
applications and offers the DRAM industry's highest level of performance to
date -- 1.6 gigabytes per second of peak bandwidth from a single device.

Wintec sees the opportunity and applications for Rambus technology
growing. "In addition to PC applications for Rambus modules, we also see
interest coming from a broad spectrum of customers for a variety of
applications such as networking servers," commented Brian Elliott, Wintec's
Director of OEM Sales.

Wintec's RIMM modules are available for PC motherboard manufacturers, PC
system manufacturers (OEMs) and other technology companies that are developing
Rambus-enabled systems or products. As the availability of Rambus system
accelerates with the introduction of chipset support from Intel, Wintec is
ready for volume manufacturing of RIMM modules at the company's
state-of-the-art, ISO 9001/9002 certified facility in Fremont, Calif. and is
prepared to meet customer demand.
