Okay, here's what you do. Take your PC with Solaris 2.51 (you should *really consider 2.7 or Linux here) OVER to ATI in person. Just wheel it into the lobby and tell them you came there to have them get the vid card working on your system.

Be sure to leave the impression that you have absolutely NOTHING better to do than wait for a technician to help you.

Let me know how this turns out.

Have a good weekend. ...and buy Corel (COR.T) if you need a a Canadian stock. QwikSand and I are both thinking this is a quite cheesy value, Marlen or no Marlen. *I may even get a Viper out of this one, eh? (I'm in at $3 1/2 U.S. av)

Not intended as some kind of advice,

Re: ATI

I wanted to come back to this before leaving for Nancy's Thanksgiving party (oh, the *stuffing!).

So, I had an idea for obtaining help with the ATI/Solaris thing, leveraging your geography of being right by the ATI corporate offices.

How about staking out a median strip near the ATI parking lot, right around the end of the day. Make a cardboard sign that says "Will work for device drivers".

Alternately, you could show up at ATI Investor Relations (with your PC). Tell them you "Write for Silicon Investor (a division of Go2 Networks or whatever)" which you do, technically and that you were writing a review of their "Rage Fury" for the benefit of investors. Tell them you were having a bit of a problem getting it to work on your system, and you expect that they'd be able to help you. Then just leave your PC and your phone number and wait for them to call you "when it's ready". :)
