SP: No,you didn't misread 'my headline',it wasn't really mine though as I picked it up from the article itself,so it wasn't really my words. As for what others like the Toilet-Guy thinks about my post, well I couldn't really care less. ================= 'It irks me no end when, like a parrot, for example, all western news agencies say "the Hindu Nationalist Party" for BJP. It's a convenient tag/label, as though they are scoring some PC points with the rest of the world...' ================ Well it irks me too, may be BJP should stay the hell away from bozo-outfit like VHP,RSS and the like. The founder of Sangh Pariwar had warned that " in free India , the minorities either have to Hinduise themselves or else be prepared to live as second rate citizens claiming nothing, deserving no privilege, for less preferential treatments- not even citizens rights." The BJP led government is failing to make a clear break from this extremist thinking and forces thriving on prejudice and hate are fast entering the centre stage to rock the foundations of the Indian Republic. The incidents at Gujrat, Orissa and many other places made minorities to live in a state of panic. We cannot forget the ground reality that India is larger and socially diverse than Pakistan and it has gone further along the road to modernity. But undoing the work that has already been done to harmonise diverse social forces will exact incalculable social disorder among communities............... Hatred is never appeased by hatred in this world. By non-hatred alone hatred is appeased. This is the law eternal. The Indian method of ruling even other countries were unique and peaceful. A former Chinese Ambassador to the U.S Hu shi wrote "India conqured and dominated China for twenty centuries without ever having to send a single soldier across her borders". In this context even Mark Twain said "India is the cradle of human race, the birth place of human speed, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grandmother of tradition. Our most valuable and most instuctive materials in the history of man are treasured in India only". It irks me no end when, like a parrot, for example, all western news agencies say "the Hindu Nationalist Party" for BJP. It's a convenient tag/label, as though they are scoring some PC points with the rest of the world. Well, actually they are being PC! BJP is the party that carries the banner of "ultra-nationalism infused with (Hindu) religious idealism", therefore calling it a "Hindu Nationalist Party" is only logical. However, BJP and its cohorts go far, far beyond that. In addition to the religion-inspired nationalist ideas, these outfits are also characterized by the following : 1. The stress on militarism, 2. The doctrine of racial and cultural superiority, 3. The use of symbols of past greatness, 4. The emphasis on national solidarity, and 5. The exclusion of religious or ethnic minorities from the concept of nation. All these are highly reminiscent of the fascist movement in Europe. So by merely calling the BJP a "Hindu Nationalist Party", the Western media is being rather soft on it.
