Tech high-flirts in certain sectors are fully valued for now IMHO and I just sold some of them (COMS and CPQ) after stellar one week gains. But I agreed with the analyst on CNBC today who said it's all about sector rotation. Next should be the software and retail sectors, followed by the cyclicals. (I don't play financials) Therefore, take the profits from one and plough them into the next. Look for low PE's and great earnings. Look for stocks 50% below their 52 week highs (there are still a few like ANF, UIS). Nets are ridiculous but some like CMGI actually have low PE's not to mention excellent dominant positions in their sector. So far I'm right about all this. I'm no genius I'm just lucky I'm right this time. Ever since October when I bought heavily at lows. But I made a bad boo boo earlier this year holding through May and August - ugh. I'll try never to do that again. This market is very seasonal. The fall - early spring period is the best time to play that seasnality. At the rate we're going though I'm outta here in january to spend my earnings. Everything's happening a month or so early now because investors know the patterns. Therefore this year's October crash came gradually through August-September. And this year's New Year's rally is happening now. Maybe it'll happen a month earlier every year from now on. Anyway, sorry to bruise any egos. And we all make bad mistakes. The key is to realize when you're wrong and change your way of thinking. There's still a lot of rally room in this market if you play the right sectors. I like beaten-down software and retailers right now. My picks IMRS, TSK, UIS and then ANF, URBN, BEBE. I'm a value bottom-feeding position trader in a bull market. There are a lot of ways to make money, some do it with momentum trading, day-trading on surges and IPO's, that would drive me crazy. I'm by nature a cheap bargain-hunter so you have to play by your own personality. Good luck everyone. Buy low and sell high.
