Vodafone Sees 60 Pct Chance of Getting Mannesmann
FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Vodafone AirTouch Plc Chief Executive Chris Gent said in an interview with a German newspaper on Saturday that his group had a 55-60 percent chance of succeeding in its bid for Germany's Mannesmann AG.

``I think something around a 55 to 60 percent chance of success,' Gent said in a German transcription of an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, when asked what he thought of Vodafone's chances of success.

Gent said it was now up to Mannesmann shareholders to decide whether to accept the offer, adding that Vodafone would not increase its revised 124 billion euro ($128 billion) bid if it was rejected by Mannesmann shareholders.

The fresh bid follows Mannesmann's rejection of an initial 103 billion euro bid on Sunday.

Vodafone plans to send its offer document to shareholders by mid December, starting the 60-day takeover clock ticking to the final closing date of the offer around mid February. By then, it hopes to have won over 50 percent of Mannesmann investors
