Most of those buying are small players and I suspect most will keep it.

Well, I don't really have any data on exactly who is buying, but it strikes me as likely that their purchasing of gold will fall off if Y2K proves a non-event.

And then I expect gold may come under more pressure, both in physical price and in gold shares.

Of course, if Y2K does wreak havoc in the global economy than this scenario could go completely the other way.

But I'm not yet sure the disruptions will be major in the larger economies. Asia is the worst and they've been through 2 years of economic hell anyway.
