I got to thinking some more about the financing of receivables, and I recall that a year or so ago Ashby (ASND CFO) acknowledged that Ascend was financing the receivables of some of its customers. As I recall, he said something like [paraphrasing] "All of the network gear suppliers are doing it -- we're just being open about it."

So if LU is doing the same thing, there's nothing untoward about it. I simply question what I believe to be inaccurate accounting if they finance a receivable and then consider that transaction as contributing to operating cash flow.
