Pat, thanks for your response. It sounds as if you have spent a little time with some of these booster clubs. Your message resounds with experience (in marked contrast to certain other messages). One basic assumption that I did make that went unsaid is that the PR said 700 schools. I am assuming that 700 schools are going to participate in some fashion or another, i.e. these sales are closed. You have hit on one of the biggest sources of error in the analysis--deciding how many schools are participating on what level. If we had 600 schools participating on a school-wide basis, that would change the numbers pretty drastically. You also make the point that the organizations sometimes do a pile of selling. The local high school band that must raise $60,000 for a trip to the Bahamas cannot have a bunch of people sitting on their derrieres. Predicting is hazardous work. But at least we have the 700 school number to work with. Regards, Suzanne
