I couldn't agree more. I would be enormously pissed if the company was acquired before Palm was spun off.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is true. I also wouldn't be surprised to learn the converse is true instead. How did you arrive at your conclusion and how can we attribute this move to anything but general demand for 3Com stock?
