If SUNW does go down a bit this coming week as a temporary, knee-jerk reaction, isn't it better to pick up 500 shares right now rather than wait until after the split and get 1,000 on a dip?

Without looking at the stock price history for SUNW (or any other company) going into then right after a split, I just wonder if buying on post-split dips tend to still result in people paying more than if they had bought a few weeks before the split itself.
