Bill:

<If you've read this far, you can see why I am so disturbed about Y2K. I really do not have our systems fixed, with 40 days to go, yet I have been aware of it since mid 1997.>

I did read that far. And you have my complete sympathy and understanding. Especially the part of not wanting to have to look your customers in the eye and reassure them.

Best of luck,

Christine

Well, Bill, I READ your entire contribution, and not only understood but FELT your frustration. Excellent synopsis and clarion articulation of the Y2K small business America sitution.

Interfacing is just ONE of the y2k computer problems.
OUTERfacing you also covered and dealth with.

BRAVO on the courage you exhibited:
1) in assessment
2) in remediation
3) in remediating the remediation
4) in remediating again
5) in re-assessment of the obvious
6) in making a tough decision,
7) in making your geographic and financial move. (You must be married to one helluva woman)

God's Blessings on you and yours in the days ahead.

RE:>>why I am so disturbed about Y2K. I really do not have
our systems fixed, with 40 days to go, yet I have been aware of it since mid 1997. That is my micro problem. Will all the suppliers of car parts be up to speed? Will the insurance companies who feed us be up to speed? Will there be ample fuel so that people can continue to fight traffic and smash their cars?<<
Bill-
Thank - you for one of the best posts to come on this thread in 15 months....
It sums up why Y2K is going to be a disaster....
You and many companies aware and working hard and yet many problems still come up... and it will get worse when everything rolls over AT THE SAME TIME for everyone. It may take time to feel the effect as the dominoes fall-- but it is not pretty. The thing is all the companies doing the opposite of you and using the self reporting loopholes to fool everyone into complacency has endangered us all.
It was so funny to see cheeeeky reply so predictably and then you shot him down in flames. Thanks for sharing.
God bless you and your family and good luck.

Jeff
