Wayne:

Your commentary is right on.

I love the irony of the situation. Here we have two men, both elderly and reaching that time in their lives when the "scratch in the sand" is important. Both superbly brilliant, both steeped in experience and both rich in their understanding of the markets. One of them, arguably among the richest men on the planet, is going out of his way to try to educate investors about the perils of the current mania, and the other, one of the most powerful men on the planet, going out of his way to extend that same mania.

I wonder which will be remembered most fondly when they depart this planet?

Best, Earlie

Wayne, what's your take on the VC role in the bubble? I get the sense the "Sand Hill Road" fraternity has turned into mania alchemists.
I remember the days when company's required at least two consecutive quarters of profitability before they were taken out. Now all that's required is a dot.com business. Are there restrictions on VC stock, or can they unload after an IPO?

Wayne, well said. People fail to realize that when credit is not invested in productive enterprises it is difficult or impossible to repay. Charles Ponzi got away with it for longer than he should have but he was able to inspire CONfidence. Those who know nothing question nothing. Mike
