Not being a statistician, I'll concede out of ignorance that you might have a good point. But ...

I agree with you, market timing does not work, but to be realistic, what about the down days? What if you had missed the 10 biggest down day ?

If an investor can't predict which days are going to be the ten best, s/he also won't be able to predict which are going to be the ten days to avoid. Either way, it's an impossible task.
