A hill retreat located on the Sahyadri hills, Lonavala is 106 kms from Bombay. It is on the Bombay-Pune main railway line and is well connected by a number of trains.

The Shatabdi Express, The Deccan Express, the Hyderabad-Bombay Express, the Deccan Queen, the Indrayani Express, the Udyan Express and the Sahayadri Express all halt at Lonavala. The journey from Bombay to Lonavala takes about three hours by train.

The one way fare between Bombay and Lonavala is Rs 68 for second class and Rs 196 for the air-conditioned chair car. The one way fare on Shatabdi Express is Rs 335 for the air-conditioned chair car and Rs 635 for executive class.

Regular and deluxe buses are also available from Bombay and Pune (62 kms). The fare is approximately Rs 100 from Bombay by deluxe bus and Rs 60 by S T bus and approximately Rs 80 from Pune by deluxe bus and Rs 30 by S T bus. Taxis can also be hired from Bombay.
