I was trying to figure out that post. First, I wondered who "these people" were. And I thought, does he mean people like me and Rambi who have been here since the thread started? He obviously means you (youngling though you are to feelies), but who else is included? Perhaps lists are in order when people use phrases like "these people" so that the correct people would get the message. Because if the correct people don't get the message then one is just pissing into the wind- a profitless and messy exercise. Also I wondered, when he talked about "bothering" if he was referring to that series of posts when JLA was questioned (by everyone) about his insistence on doing the one liner, empty meaning, put down posts- and he said to Nulldog, something to the effect, that he didn't want to waste the time to say anything sensible. SO THAT is what I think Nulldog meant about bothering- although why one would want to waste lots of time posting meaningless unpleasant stuff to people one does not like makes no sense to me. I can certainly understand posting stuff that matters to you to people- any kind of people. Because merely by getting one's ideas exposure one may find a fertile place for them to grow- even though it may not be obvious that they have found a home. I post all the time, frequently to people I have very little in common with and no hope of convincing- but I post because I enjoy writing down my ideas- as it helps to clarify my thoughts, and I know that lots of people read them not just the people who post. By seeing my ideas written down I can explore them more completely, and I have a written record of them- for the words we say to people in conversation, fade away so fast, and conversations take such quick and tortuous twists and turns that logical threads are often lost. I think the arguments- where people actually bother to try to reason to support their points, or explain the faith based nature of their positions- are often quite interesting. The fact that we have so many divergent views on feelies has always been one reason we all (I assume) stay here. Of course many of those ideas will be foreign and even objectionable to us. I know many of the views expressed here are the opposite of everything I "believe" in- my concept of belief being a bit different from most peoples. But it is still a window into the psyche of people extremely different from myself to read the posts here, and I find that enlightening, if at times rather unsettling. I think the really empty and pointless insults (while sometimes fun to engage in) can completely squash the more meaningful posts- and I am sorry that Nulldog seems to be embracing the approach JLA sometimes (but not ALWAYS) takes- because that is what I think Nulldog was saying.
