From "Today's Value Investor" dated 11/19/99

Value stock pick of the week

Vari-L (VARL-$14) — The maker of components used in wireless handsets has been rallying on improved fundamentals and increased institutional interest. We think Vari-L holds superior growth potential for investors wanting small-cap exposure. The market capitalization is about $75 million, which mean investors can build positions now ahead of buying pressures by mutual funds.

From "Dow Theory Forecasts"

Vari-L ($14; NASDAQ: VARL) is being added to the Focus List as a "buy." Vari-L stands in excellent position to capture the almost-certain growth in the wireless phone industry. The number of wireless phones manufactured each year has been growing sharply, and the three biggest players in the industry—Motorola, Nokia, and Ericsson—all contract with Vari-L to produce voltage-controlled oscillators (VCO), two of which are needed in every cellular phone. The stock has the potential to reach $20 or more over the next 12-18 months.

Dow theory Forecasts "Focus List" consists of the following:

AT&T
BellSouth
Citigroup
Comdisco
ECI Telecom
Elan
GM
Hardcourt General
IMS Health
Johnson & Johnson
Southwest Airlines
Sprint FON

Seems like we are finding ourselves in quite a bit of nice company . . . :-)
