Gateway - Gotta be real...

Wandered into the "Gateway Country" store in Melbourne, FL, this afternoon, - full of overpriced Intel stuff.
Asked if they would be getting AMD Athlons, and the girl said "Yes, we've been getting training on them, they are really hot stuff. - Want us to call you when they are in?" She checked with an associate who said they should be in by the 28th November.

This is interesting. The rumor is picking up strength. I got a PM from a lurker on this thread that he got somewhat similar response when he called Gateway direct.

Good luck to the longs,
Chuck

Thanks for posting it. Based on all this info, I changed all my investment plans for Monday (this morning I was contemplating of trading my AMD stock on Monday - sell and buy it back at lower price - which now, seems like a pretty bad idea).

about the Athlon .18 æ johan
Saturday, November 20, 1999 (05:40 PM West-Europa (standaardtijd))

Good news! Two different sources have confirmed that all current Slot A motherboards will have no problems with the different voltages that the .18 æ Athlon will require. The Athlon card draws 2.5 V from the motherboard and then devides it down internally to the specified core voltage. So you can safely assume that you will be able to plug at least a 900MHz Athlon in the Slot A motherboards that are out there.
