I did not (that I know of) insult your family. I do not call the anti- choice (pro-life) people demented- and I am not sure why you need to. I don't understand that. They might be fanatical in your eyes- just as you are in mine- but pro-lifers and pro-choicers are hardly demented as a group. Now individuals might be - and dementia is best assessed one person at a time, unless you are talking about episodes of mass delusion.

You find the arguments in favor of abortion "ludicrous". Which is interesting. I don't find the arguments against abortion ludicrous- at least not as presented by people who don't feel the need to argue irrationally.

It is my personal opinion that men can never understand the abortion issue- so we'll just have to disagree on that- I can understand why you think you should have an opinion, but I do not think you can ever have all the facts, because being able to be impregnated is one of the "facts". I think it is "pompous and egocentric" of you to feel you have the only truth- and you obviously feel you DO have the only truth since the people on the other "side" are demented and have ludicrous arguments. You are so convinced yours is the only truth that you are willing to force people who do not agree with you to conform their behavior in alignment with your beliefs. If that isn't arrogant I don't know what is.

I don't know whether your family was insulted or not- those posts got so irrational on both sides I skipped them.

There are people of good will and rational thinking on both sides of this debate- you obviously aren't one of those people, which is fine.

I felt that my family had been insulted.

While I realize in advance I probably should have responded to this last night (since no doubt many wish this particular debate and all its twists and turns would simply be forgotten), I wish to note you are not the only person who has gotten this impression and reacted in similar fashion in the heat of opinion(?), although oddly, with a much different outcome.

The irony is staggering.
