outstanding digwork on put proliferation

strong similarity in contrary indication value between the oft-mentioned VIX and put/call ratio

VIX is the volatility index I use for overall market direction, based upon cost of option put premium in the S&P index options... we discussed its value back during the trying times last October... it worked like a star

the put/call ratio is valuable also, esp with individual stocks... that QCOM's put/call ratio is high now speaks volumes to its upward potential to be realized soooooon

it is a shame that most investors must climax to such incorrect levels, thus providing a clear message to the markets

reminds me of a Mark Twain quote where he defined

DOGMATIC: wrong at the top of your voice

it is useful to build contrary indicators of all kinds, use them, watch them... certain friends are such contraries for me as they naively worry aloud

by the way, VIX is quite low now, indicating a slight market decline... but then again, maybe VIX will go a bit lower before hitting its extreme and before the market declines
