Cisco will make the Cerent purchase reasonably worth the while, but only because of synergy in sales and customer relationships... they paid 10 times its worth versus current sales... probably an unfair measure though since future sales will be greater much greater

my beef is different... it is SONET based and thus already antiquated... the big joke is that good thing Cerent sold because in two years it would have been obsolete

perhaps Cerent will be adaptable to the nextgen fiberoptic world... SONET is an utter joke now, forcing a Volkswagen onto the German Autobahn... perhaps Cisco's Fiberoptic Division will work wonders with it

the price is a deep thighslapping figure any way you cut it
