More on OpenTV.

Keep in mind Opentv has their software running on 4 million set top boxes worldwide. Liberate has launched a sum total of 38K? OpenTV has saturated Europe, is moving into Asia and the U.S.(set to launch on Echostar first quarter of 2000, so they are setting themselves up quite well for the US market) and into Latin America.

It seems to me that we in the US are rather ego-centric when we scoff at companies that aren't "here" yet. As much consumerism as we have here, it is not the only lucrative market.

Everyone is running around speculating on the money they are going to make as emerging nations embrace the internet (I've made lots of bucks on CAOL/XNET this past year as hype and promise make their prices pop) ...and yet I believe that the television market has yet to fully take off in many of these areas where overnight folks go from 3 state run television stations to having 30-50 stations in the blink of an eye. These are the same people that are years away from owning PCs or credit cards for ecommerce solutions, but who would sell their first born before they would give up their TVs.
