European online diversity

Everyone knows the Internet in Europe is "18 months behind the U.S." -- or so the conventional wisdom has it. But what part of Europe are they talking about? Turns out the region's online community isn't nearly as homogenous as some believe.

Pro Active International, an online market research firm, has unveiled preliminary results of a survey due in February, 2000 that shows how varied Europe's Net world really is.

For one: there's a significant gap between online purchasing behavior between Northern countries like Denmark, England, and Germany and Southern ones like France, Spain and Italy. More than half of those online in colder climes have bought something over the Net. In the South, maybe they're out enjoying the sun instead: the number's just one-third. <<

Back in March, X-Stream hit 5,489,535 ad impressions in one week:
From the 3/25/99 pr at the website
>>
In the seven days from Monday 8th the X-Stream Network showed an amazing 5,489,535 impressions to its UK userbase and next week expects to display even more. <<

is seems that would put X-Stream around 22 million ad impressions for the month, back in March, when their subscriber base was only
265,000.. just over half of the current total.

this FREE pr from 9/28 says FREE was at 76 million monthly page impressions in September.
yahoo.cnet.com
>>The number of page impressions per month grew 19 percent to 76 million. That corresponds to the growth in the number of active users, which increased 19 percent to 1.41 million active accounts from 1.18 million 16 weeks earlier. Minutes of usage per day, however, grew only 11 percent. <<

Interesting that one is ad impressions, one is page impressions
but it would not seem to be too wild a speculation to guess
that X-stream may be closer to 40 million ad impressions by now...
And of course, ad impressions produce revenue.
