own horn about how smart they are

"You cannot afford to be out of this market a single day."

"Who told you to buy Microsoft?"

"Who guided you for 14 years to critical mass?"

All legitimate reminders that toot the horn of the source, but none of which detract from his status as a consummate professional. Thus, I submit to you that tooting ones horn is not a valid criteria to distinguish professionals from amateurs.
