Fortune, Dec. 6, had good article / interviews on VCs including Jon Callaghan from CMGI @ventures. The positive take away from most of interviews was the fact there is lots of money chasing new businesses... businesses have more of choice in which VC they go with... value added becomes more important ... [therefore, should be positive for CMGI going forward in attracting the best].

"...i am long but my concern is not so much one of doubt of growth but one of is it a house of cards?..."

Great question....I think one would have to be a pure gambler not to give this question serious thought.

My opinion is that it is not a house of cards....if CMGI were not reviewing so many plans per month, if their IPO's were not so successful, if the IPOs were not so successful after the fact as well, if the accounting wasn't showing real profits....then I think I'd be more concerned, a lot more concerned....but, if this is a house of cards, they surely do hide it well!

I am not saying that all internet businesses will succeed, or even be in business five years from now....but I think that a greater portion of those that are sponsored by CMGI will be, because they only pick the cream of the crop.

We are, in my opinion, now owners of a company with the same potential as Bernie Ebbers had 5 years ago with LDDS Worldcom.....except that we don't have too many big, entrenched players to overcome.
