JB,

Just taking a stab and maybe Gibbons will have time to jump in...
The quote vendor that I work on the development team for (and my broker's PC Quote feed as well) uses different servers for Level 2 and for charting as for the regular L1 quotes. I would bet that S&P Comstock is the same. Also, the level 1 quote is the "official" published quote. I've noticed with all three of my quote services that on Nasdaq stocks, the bid and ask all move to the "true" market in pre and post market sessions, however, the "last" field does not update (from the "official" day session close). Time and sales will reflect accurate "last" in pre and post market sessions and all will have accurate bid and ask. I think that the "last" stays fixed after the day session because the next day's change is computed from that number (as opposed to change from the open of the next day session). Have you looked at bid and ask to determine the current market for the stock outside of the day sessions or do you look at "last". I hope this makes sense. I just know that all three of my quote vendors all do the same thing there. Makes me think it is a standardized thing. The "last" field is supposed to be "last" of the day session until the new day session opens (even though time and sales shows that prices change in the aftermarket).

Matt

Matt>1) QC is displaying what they are getting (e.g., e-mini all night).

jebj>>But are they? If they show trades in the L2 AND THE T&S, are they not getting the data? Then why is this data NOT FED into the quote page?

The quotes in the Quote sheet, Single Quote and Snap Quote (in the chart) is fed directly by the S&P summary quotes. We don't control that - we are passing along what they are sending us.

Charts, Tabular Bars are built from trades, as are the T&S windows.

Level II displays are built from the Comstock Level II feed.

Matt>3) You indicated you were looking for charting and the most liquid premarket is ISLD. Because of it's liquidity it should be fairly representative of the whole market. If it is representative, then the ISLD chart should be valid. If you are looking for actual pricing data, the T&S data is all inclusive (or so you said).

jebj>>No, not looking for charting - nice to have but not needed. Looking for QUOTE PAGE INPUT so I can, at a glance, see what is going on PRE-MARKET in my full list of stocks. Also, would like ACTIVE hot list pre-market.

Use the ISLD:<symbol> in the quote sheet. Or you can get the QFeed Developer's kit and write a program to server your particular needs. If others find it valuable too, you might want to consider selling it to them.

Hot lists such as the ones we do are unique. The Trade Rate and Volume Rate hot lists do show the stocks that are hopping in the pre and post market trading. We will consider your request for new hot lists - we aren't saying no but our server development team is not in feature innovation mode right now - they are doing their best to keep the servers running.

Again - if you have a particular need, we do have a wide open developer's program which hundreds of users are using to create applications to suit their own trading requirements. If you can't program yourself, perhaps you can find a third-party developer to answer your particular vital needs. This is something YOU can DO to solve your problem and get your needs met.
