Maurice...< Their political
system still celebrates independence from Britain which was bringing wealth in huge lumps.>...unfortunatly...these lumps were in the hands of the Very Few...we both remember the term Maharaja....there were lots of these guys.....(.not noted for their sense of compassion generally speaking..)..do you FEEL that India's new emerging middle class; 250-300 million people..would exist if the Queen Mother (?) were still in charge.....no way to argue this point..the times have changed...no turning back........Im sure the U. K. would love to have the US, NZ, Canada ,HK, Ireland and other Loyal Subjects ( that is... those subjected to Gun Boat Diplomacy) returned to the fold.......yes India ( the largest voting democracy on earth) has the vote....but it continues ...as do we in the west , to over rule the electorate by the bullet..the bomb or through 'misinformation'..........same guys wearing a different suit of cloths.............It's interesting to think that quite possibly some of the worlds great minds have been lost due to a lack of food...."If God were to appear to a hungry man..it would be as a loaf of bread"...Mahatma Ghandi.......My point in the original post being.....what makes us man the wise...Human(e) Beings...is some sense of generosity or compassion......Best to You Maurice...Tim

>>It would be much better is a lot of Indians worked on CDMA or that JDSU stuff, earned a lot of loot and raised the quality of the trash they chuck out for recycling. >>

Of the Indians in the CDMA world, Anil Kripalani of Qualcomm who heads the standard committee for the 3G standards. Arun Sarin, another Indian, heads Airtouch USA.
