Yes Canada doesn't have a ruling like the US does that stock promoters can't be paid in large amounts of free or cheap shares.

The other thing is that you could go long and short from Canada much more easily than you can in the US. Hell you can even box the stock without too much of a hassle.

In Canada we don't have any price limits on what we can short so penny stocks are easy to short from here as long as you can borrow the stock. If he's sitting on a ton of free or cheap stock he could easily short them from here and any movement in the stock whether it's up or down would be profitable for him . . . as long as there is some volatility he wins.

That may also explain why some Canadian pig farmers seem to play the OTC markets regularly . . . he may be using their accounts to run some of this business through.
