If you look at index charts, you rarely see one trend give way to an opposite trend in a single bar or two.

That is exactly what has me unnerved. What changed in that very short period of time to make the future suddenly bright?

What might change in a similarly short period to make the future dark again?

I've never been a major worrier. I've always been strongly bullish on the market. But something about the absolute lack of fear for no perceivable reason in a time I expected serious fear leaves me exceptionally unsettled.

Call it my own Y2k panic, but for the next two months I am purely a daytrader.
