Hi Fritz,

Not sure if I fully understand your question. But you should be able to buy shares of BAY through E*Trade under the symbol, CBYMF. It will not show a bid/ask but should allow you to place the order. Personally, I use Webroker (but I get my trading symbols from E*Trade - go figure:)

Good luck,
robert

Hi FritzV....

I use etrade all the time. robert is right the symbol is CBYMF. But this symbol does little good for you really. You can trade on-line with etrade using this symbol but you are really going through NASD. This will slow down your executions and cost you an extra 2-3 cents for each share because you are using NASD as a middleman.

To get fast executions and save money I always call etrade and talk to a live broker. Just ask for a quote (bid/ask) on "Coner Bay Minerals, Toronto Exchange, Symbol BAY" You can let them know the etrade symbol they use is CBYMF.

The broker will come back with prices in US $ and you can then place an order. Caution: I ALWAYS use a limit order on CDN orders. Don't recommend using market orders.

You can see your order execute online.

If you are desperate to get a CDN stock (BAY or otherwise) when you place your order (a limit order!) just add 1c US to the ask. You will get your buy right away. The keeps you getting caught out on exchange rates. This just happened to me last week on BAY. Note that you do not always pay the extra cent either because of the limit order.<grin>

One more thing, Etrade will give you the online trade commision cost instead of the live broker cost because they cannot deal directly with CDN exchanges. Just check your confirmation slip when you get it, it should show $19.95 or less.

Once you own BAY you can track the price on canada-stockwatch. You can even get RT quotes there. Use it all the time. You can get 20min delayed quotes here on SI for BAY.

Hope this helps.
