Badon: i couldn't help but notice tokyo joe has an ad for an investment seminar he's giving. will you be attending? Wise guy! How's this for parallelism: On the front page of today's Boston Globe, there's another installment in its "Crimes of the Century" series. Today's criminal: Charles Ponzi! Conikydink? Mebbe.... At the end of the 80s, Tom Wolfe felt compelled to write "The Bonfire of the Vanities" to capture the zeitgeist of what was seen as an incredible surge of greed. Turns out the 80s were only the overture, the entree, for what has been an orgy of greed in the 90s (my apologies for a brutal mixture of metaphors there). And when Tom writes his sequel, we have to believe there will be a Roman a clef involving a Korean immigrant Burrito-toting pump-and-dump hypester... "An investment seminar" -- That, alone, is false advertising! Thanks for the laugh!
