Microsoft Faces Class-Action Suits SEATTLE (AP) - A wave of private lawsuits against Microsoft Corp. - including a class-action lawsuit on behalf of millions of California consumers that is expected to be filed today - suddenly has the company fighting on several legal fronts at once. Consumers are demanding potentially billions of dollars in compensation for alleged overcharging on Windows software. ''This is the start of the race to get to the courthouse,'' an antitrust lawyer said. The suits could intensify pressure on Microsoft to settle its antitrust battle with the Justice Department.
