I confess, I have been spoiled re: movies on TV. Usually I watch satellite feeds without commercials. But although I now live closer to the East Coast I still get a West Coast feed for the four major networks. That would have meant staying up to midnight to tune in. So I watched it over an omni antenna with a signal bouncing around the mountains from Charlotte, NC a hundred miles away. So picture this movie varying between partial color to black and white, and back at 10 times a minute. I missed the yuppie chairs, and only recognized the McDonald's commercial when they flashed the logo at the end. But I got the point, and they tried to cover too many of them. I do have to say I enjoyed it. I am pleased that it aired. I won't critique it, we couldn't help but be critical.

Yes, even without the fluctuating chromatics, Y2K was not worth rewatching at midnight. I turned it off before the local "experts" came on to tell us not to worry.

"What ME worry?"

I'd already seen "The China Syndrome"

The customized Y2K commercials were a novel idea.

They probably won't do a sequel. . .

RE: >> They couldn't even pull-off a decent evacuation scene. Think of Independence Day...Now THOSE were evacuation scenes! <<

I could almost give a conspiracy theory argument that the movie was a plant-- so poorly done including the phony concern leading up that it was going to cause panic... if anything the movie lulled people to sleep more than ever.
If we see panic before 1-1 it will be late Dec. --if at all thank goodness. However glad we are for no panic I still say it will make things even worse if even the SLIGHTEST trouble happens in first 24 hours -as people who should have been calmly prepared PANIC big time.

Flats and all--including posters and lurkers--
Using 1 being disaster with a nuke or terrorist attack touching US soil and 10 being not even able to notice Y2K happened --what is your current evaluation ? Comments welcome but not mandatory.

My opinion is ........ 2 1/2 to 3

Major economic troubles increasing in spring from global economy-- beyond our nightmares but somehow terrorists don't strike and nuclear plants avoid catastrophe. Mankind goes on-- but becomes even more violent and ungodly society in the next 10 years. Y2K will be real and many ask ... how come they didn't warn us ?????
Ends up that China may rescue us by provoking war or cold war that revives US economy by 2005.
