Nokia Extraordinary General meeting...

Anyone care to comment on the agenda?
In particular, the proposal to reduce the share capital through
cancellation of shares held by the corporation.
This would reduce the retained earnings.

They're still quoting last June's China Unicom press release promising 2 million CDMA subscriber capacity by the end of 1999 and 40 million capacity by 2003. Unicom has now five weeks left to make the first numbers of their projection.

Tero, your preconceived notions must be causing brain rot. The article that was referenced has LaForge (from the CDG) quoting subscriber numbers that have been revised in light of recent events and makes no mention of 2M subs capacity by the end of '99. Here is the excerpt:

Unicom announced plans for 2003 to have 30 million customers and close to 40 million subscriber capacity,' LaForge quoted top Unicom executives as telling him in Beijing last week.

Another great day for Nokia!
