Earlie, I would add to your post that traditionally Japan's economic recoveries have been led by capital equipment investment spending. Today one must define investment because Bill clinton thinks of all spending as an investment-g-. The dilemma is why invest in more capacity when there is excess capacity already? I seem to recall reading somewhere that Japanese bank loans have been contracting for years. I am surprised at the length of time we have bought with AG.coms rate cuts but I do not buy into the Asia on the mend scenario once the US economy turns down Asia will suffer. In the 20s certain sectors and countries had been depressed long before the US economy peaked in the summer of 1929. It is interesting to note that Englands monetary policy benefited the bankers at the expense of manufacturers reminds me of US policy today. BK is NOT a MYTH! ho ho ho mike
