The best pricing policy for mergers was set forth by Warren Buffett, who believes that if the merger is priced properly, neither party can claim a disadvantage. You're absolutely right that the shareholders of Mannesmann need not complain about this latest offer, unless someone knows something we don't know. As for us VOD shareholders, I'd still like to know what advantage we get by owning a majority of cell phone franchises in Germany and Italy. Contemporary management practice suggests that you get farther these days with alliances, rather than outright purchases.
