Sure, blues, and especially the urbanized version of rhythm and blues is important, although so is Appalachian folk music (listen to the Grateful Dead, it is almost bluegrass), British skittle, and much else. But not only is rock not R&B, but it has led a quite independent existence, although with some cross-fertilization from time to time. And it is rock which has made the large mark in the world.....The time for the big blues influence was the mid- 60s, on certain British groups like the Stones and the Animals.....
