Citrix holds what could be considered a "corner stone" technology for the emerging ASP market. It's MetaFrame product uses a proprietary protocol called ICA (Independent Computing Architecture).

The function of the MetaFrame product and ICA protocol allows native Windows based applications, such as Office to be accessed via a Java enabled browser over an intranet, wide area network or the Internet. The application resides on a server on the backend and is accessed via a web browser. All processing appears as if the application is actually installed and running on the PC.

This technology has enormous and profound implication due to the now converging technologies or Internet, network OS and user available bandwidth. It is now practical to distribute applications over the Internet using products such as MS Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame. Read more about it...go to www.citrix.com and see for your self. Good luck. "
