telecomguy - I see it the same way. As a former Bay shareholder, I remember Lucent and Ericssen sitting around and saying NT paid too much. Nortel was first to market with Succession before LU product. Lucent waited too long to buy Ascend. By the way, Cisco has been too slow and timid in moving into optical networking. Nortel has been the most aggressive in developing and marketing new products. Their aggressive strategy is paying off.

Hi t.g. - except for LU, we are probably on the same wavelength. I think the situation at LU is due in part a couple of missteps [I must confess I don't follow LU too closely to form an informed opinion though :),] namely, it paid a bit too much for ASND and there is the residual fallout of WCOM incident. However, in case you and others didn't catch the news [I was tempted to post it here, but didn't,] it has managed to get the deal to build the redundant FR network for WCOM. Sometimes, visibility is a good thing; sometimes, one needs to mind business quietly until the time is ripe.

best, B
