I just cancelled my "Direct TV" because they would no longer deliver the East Coast feeds to me. What little I watch on cable is annoying now because I had got used to the Direct TV programming guide.

It is amazing how quickly we can be spoiled. My new Seville has a 'rain sensor" that automatically turns on the wipers and adjusts them to wipe according to the amount of rain falling on the windshield. I would not be without it now. Same thing with the automatic adjustment of the side view mirrors, seat, steering wheel, and radio every time I turn on the key. Luxury rapidly becomes necessity!

Before I got a remote for my TV my reaction was
the same as your skeptical friends. Of course once I
got it, my way of watching TV was changed as I discovered
surfing channels.

Exactly. About three years ago, I owned a VideoGuide
unit. It completely changed the way I watched television.
Since the demise of that product/service I have pretty
much quit watching television -- it had become an
integral part of my viewing experience and now watching
without it is just no fun. Well OK, I'm busier now too.
