Left is relative to where one is positioned. Most consider Salon left wing, but I suppose it isn't left enough for others.

Personally, Lizzie, I don't consider the terms "right" and "left' terribly useful these days, any more than "conservative" and "liberal" are. But if you are talking old-fashioned American historical left, which has tended to have a certain specific ideology (or specific competing left-wing ideologies) then Salon is not left-wing. It is not ideological. It doesn't even have editorial positions; its writers do have positions, but they often disagree with one another. (On the Clinton question, for example, Salon was all over the map, even though some observers assumed it was "the voice of the Administration.")
