Do you pay for cable TV? Or sattelite TV? I do. And I'll tell you, I don't even listen to the radio, because I can't stand the commercials. I can't stand the way the station cuts out right in the middle of that Eddie Van Halen solo. I'd pay 120 bucks a year for sattelite radio that is commercial free, static free, and plays that way no matter where you are in the world. Ever take a long drive and wind up leaving the scan button on on your radio just to find a station that plays decent music. Or how about when you finally do find that station and then all of a sudden, 20 miles later, it's gone. What is gonna happen here is the auto manufacturers are going to be putting these new extra band radios in all of the vehicles manufactured. They will be giving away a free (1) year subscription to the service. I mean, heck, it costs them 120 bucks right? Hey no problem, just add it in to the bottom line of the MSRP, and it costs them nothing really. Then, when the subscription comes due for renewal, the customer is hooked. The bill is $120 for a full year...and you write the check. I can't wait to get sattelite radio. I might just start listening to the radio again. I can't stand those loudmouth talk all day with nothing to say DJ's. I just wanna rock when I am going down the road. There gonna have like...120 channels too. I pay $70 a month for my Primestar, (which is now DirectTV)and I have no problem with that. I get all the movie channels and I seldom ever lose reception. When I do, it is in a super heavy storm, and it's right back on as soon as the storm settles down. (Not when they get the cables repaired, since there ain't none)What choice did I have? I couldn't stand watching TV anymore because the commercials annoy the crap out of me. You won't catch me sitting thru a commercial on TV. And I don't tolerate them on the radio either. I'll be the first to sign up for this service. Now for some math... Let's just assume that they get 10 million customers signed up in the first 2 years of service. 10,000,000 x 9.95 per month=99,500,000 per month x 12 = $1,194,000,000 per year in subscription revenue. They are planning to have advertisers on the news stations, and I would assume that if you wanted to have the service in your home, you would have to pay for an extra subscription. SO the revenues just keep rolling. Now, that's only 10 million customers. There are only 2 companies that are going to be doing this. They are CDRD, and XMSR. You should look at the companies that are behind all of this. I would assume that since this is sattelite, it is going to have worldwide potential too. You have to ask yourself...how big is the potential audience for this? I sure welcome any opinions, and I really do appreciate yours. But you should know that I will be the first in line to pay for radio. What I can get for free ain't worth listening to. Just like TV. Check out their website man...siriusradio.com Coast to coast non stop rockin' !! You'll pay for it too..whether it be for sports, news or to just plain jam, you'll pay. And the advertisers will swarm it. I'm gonna see to it that there is a kickass "guitar-god" station. Van Halen, Vai, Satriani, Eric Johnson, Vinnie Moore, Kenny Wayne, blah, blah, blah.. Non-stop-in your face shredding from the greatest guitar players out there. That's worth 50 bucks a month to me buddy. I have some XMSR as a hedge. Not enough, but some. There is room for both to do well. Oh, and what gives with the short interest in CDRD?? eh?
