Kerala panel to study pension scheme for non-residents

The Kerala government has appointed an expert committee to study a proposal to introduce a pension scheme for Malayalees working abroad. Like the insurance scheme for non-resident Keralites (NRKs) and the healthcare scheme for their families introduced by the state government some time ago, the pension scheme too is a first of its kind in the country. Committee convener and Non-Resident Keralites' Welfare Agency chief executive S.S. Hussein says the five-member panel headed by Finance Department (Expenditure
Section) Secretary A.K. Dubey is expected to submit its report by February.
