Mary,
This stock has been rumored as a takeover candidate ever since John Chambers discussed it glowingly back in January.

But it has been a hard year and many of us would like to see a share price of $40 or $50 before it gets wooed.

A consideration here. One reason Echelon has been able to assemble so many disparate partners under one tent, has been the fact of their unthreatening posture. The Honeywells and G.E.'s might feel differently if a Siemens for instance moved in and initiated a buyout.

Would you want one of your largest competitors to suddenly own your technology? The open protocol you'd signed on for, might not seem so open any more. But perhaps they'd all be trapped and it wouldn't matter?

Personally, I'd like to see Echelon remain intact and the ole chart proceed upward at about a 30 degree, sustainable rise for a year or two. I'd even be happy with an 1/8th a day. . .for the rest of my life!

A toast to the longs!

Bill
