I2,

An astute observation! Thank you!

Please listen up - I actually lived through the past two oil crises and experienced them first hand. Back in 1981, at the end of the 2nd oil crisis, we built a passive solar house, called an "envelope" house, which we live in today. The maximum we have spent to heat it - considering all sources - natural gas, forced air + wood in the fireplace - has been $140.00 per year! That's right, $140.00 per year maximum - we usually get through the entire winter for less than $100.00!

What if everyone lived in an energy-efficient house like this? And, drove Honda cars that get 30 - 50 MPG? (Which we own) Those oil-producers would drown in their oil!!!

That's why they're just trying to maximize the price, while they can. They sure will try to screw us when they think they can. Reality is, and They know it, these high oil prices sure won't last. However, if we all become energy efficient - which we will, if, oil keeps going up, we will hasten the end of these demagoges!

In my heart, I wish we would all become more conscious of energy use, becoming more energy-efficient, and through market action, drive the price of oil down below $10/barrel where it belongs. If you doubt $10/barrel, wait until you see what the price of oil will be when we develop hydrogen as a useable fuel! (If the big oil companies will allow it) I hope it happens...I hate being held hostage to high oil prices and the oil producers....I can't wait....

Let 'em drink their oil....
