Peter, Let's play Jeopardy:

The answer: <Breadth on the S & P 500 looks sick>

The question: What is additional new highs in the 1999 SPX 500.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Say What?

You got it.

How?

Financials/Banks.

Why?

It's a mania. Never question a mania.

How high?

Let's start with your SPX 1,469. DOW 10,550.

Any Higher?

Sure.

How High?

If MSFT comes out to play with the financials/banks, HIGHER.

How much Higher?

Do you want round numbers or minute numbers/

I like round.

O.K. DOW 12,000 (11,980) and SPX 1,500 (1,495)intraday.

No Shi...

YUP... It is so..

What would stop this grand plan?

Simple. BKX gets two closes below its 200 day MA which is BKX 844 and rising and UTIL index continues to move toward and below UTIL 280 and 30 Yr. Bond Yields heading toward 6.3%.

Anything Else?

Yes. Enjoy the rest of your Santa Claus rally early. Now go look for someone else to be grinch who stole xmas.<g>

Best Regards, J.T.

S&P 500 Daily Statistics - 11/23/99

Stocks above 200-DMA: 200
Advances/Declines: 110/380
2-week new highs/lows: 36/171
10-week new highs/lows: 19/51
52-week new highs/lows: 7/28
Total stock volume: 977843100

11/23/99,200,110,380,36,171,19,51,7,28,977843100

Stocks above the 200-DMA decrease again, advances and new highs
decrease, while declines and new lows increase for all durations.
There is a striking contrast between market breadth on the NYSE
(sick!) and Nasdaq (healthy).
