Why? I can tell you what will happen, in advance.

Most stocks will go down, but the ones that matter (the ones in the indexes) will be up.

Some will be up 30 or 40 points. Lack of revenues considered a positive, lack of profits even moreso. If it has a .com on the end of the name, and has no earnings, even better.

I gather things have been distorted for awhile with the heavy put buying by funds for millenium crash hedging and now the added liquidity by the Fed and other Central Banks for Y2K. The only thing I was fairly confident was that the new lows would expand again due to the seasonality.
