Jeff: The problem is one of economics. The CLEC will go for the same sweet spot as the telco the high density areas where the phone line passes the most number of phones per length of phone line from the CO. Don't hang by your thumbs unless you are in a densely populated area. Residences in low density neighborhoods will be last. I figure for my neighborhood it will be a matter of years. Under "deregulation" the laws of economics will not deal kindly with the non-heavily populated suburbs. JFD
