Your Account Activity Theory does not apply in my case. I have a very active platinum account that has not received one single IPO in the last 4+ months, although I IOIed for almost all the ones offered by E*trade.

Good luck guys,
4-Bob

Sir: your chances in getting IPO depend only on your activity. Platinum account that is not recently active will hurt more than benefit, because it stands in competition with other platinums that are much more active

Your chances have nothing to do with activity! I have a platinum account that was opened in Sept 99, since then that account has received BBSW, CGLD, NTSL, RPCK, VIAD, PRDS, IBAS, RTEC, VRTA. All have been flipped except VRTA(still holding), I have not made one other trade in this account, other than those IPO's listed, so it's seems to me activity has nothing to do with the allocation process.

FWIW, 0/3 DIGI.

i can assure you with at least 50 to 100 trades PER WEEK
my platinum acct is active though I've NEVER gottan an IPO
allocation yet..

I've spoken with an etrade manager who sits on the IPO process team and he assured me that

1) more shares are allocated for platinum accounst than for regular accounts (ie: platinum doesn't get them all)

2) they have a 100% random generator that cycles through accounts picking those who qualified/confirmed and have sufficient funds without any logic whatsoever..

3) it is randomly possible for one account to get 1000 IPOs in a row and another platinum acct to get 1000 DJs in a row

4) He will mention the idea of putting some logic into the randomizer so that platinum accts wont have to go so long without getting an ipo while others seem to get 10 to 20 a month in some cases

net of it is: I still have no IPOs and they haven't changed it nor will they anytime soon

still I remain a loyal customer hoping they can make me happy one of these days re: IPOs

DJ SKDS

If I cared enough to verify it I bet that I'd find that this is my 20th straight DJ after getting 12 of 14 in the First-Come-First-Serve days.
