Hi Greg:

That is so! $1 billion in quarterly revenues does translate into a whopping EPS! And that is precisely why Y2000 looks like a breakout year for AMD. The more one considers current trends, the more $1 billion seems less of an outside chance in 99Q4. (1.3 million Athlons @ $300, 4.5 million non_Athlons @ $70, flash memory rev's of $250 million and communications at $75 million would put AMD on the other side of this milestone).

Regardless of whether or not AMD breaks the $1 billion revenue barrier for the first time in its history in 99Q4,it looks highly probable that $5 billion revenues can be achieved in Y2000, assuming no major production catastrophes (the elegant architecture of the Athlon appears to minimize the probability of occurrence of production catastrophe). $5 billion could be a conservative number if all goes well and $5 billion should guarantee an EPS well in excess of the $2.50 estimated for Intel in Y2000.

With AMD Y2000 rev's of $5 billion, the suggestion by some here that AMD will cross Intel price in Y2000 does not seem far fetched.

Who'd have thought last June when Dirk Meyer presented the Athlon to the public that AMD would have more than an outside chance of breaking the $billion dollar barrier in a mere 7 months later.

My hat certainly goes off to AMD management in pulling of such a remarkably large turnaround in such a remarkably short period of time!
